20 x 16" | Charcoal on Strathmore paper

The original drawing was created on Strathmore charcoal paper with vine charcoal. It is digitally reproduced on archival German etching paper by Ditto Editions, Fine Art Reproduction Services of Concord, NH, printed under optimal conditions with the best of materials and equipment. It is a fine art print.

I am pleased that the texture of the paper, the nuances of light and darkness, and the strokes of the medium are so perfectly reproduced. I wanted to express a feeling of intense movement, with the curve of the dancer’s body the vortex and grounding of swirling energy. Although many dancers see it as such, it was not meant to be a portrait of anyone. The picture is of a feeling we have experienced ourselves, or have seen and felt in someone else’s dance.

This picture lends itself particularly well to custom framing. Double matting, a variety of frames, from simple wood to baroque designs, enhances its movement and expands its power.
